Our stories in our voices!

The Dominica Oral History (DOH) Project is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and disseminating the oral histories of Dominicans living on the island and in the diaspora. DOH is a Movement to tell our stories in our voices. We are the historians, storytellers, and preservers of Dominica’s history, culture, and heritage. For too long, others have told our stories from their perspectives. Through this project, the recording of individuals’ memories, perceptions, and life experiences are presented in their own words. By using oral history, the past is preserved for future generations. Additionally, ordinary people who are not represented in the historical records and are not typically spotlighted can be heard.
